NEWFOUNDLAND

Outfitter #1

This Outfitter is a family run operation in Northwest Newfoundland. They pride themselves in the fact that they are the owners, guides and cooks and provide the best possible personalized service to their guests. They operate 6 different camps, 5 of which are accessible only by plane or heliocopter......the other camp can be reached by foot or J5 tractor. Hunt accommodations consist of a comfortable outpost cabin equipped with a wood stove and gas or electric lights. In addition to our main camps, they sometimes utilize various remote and rustic 'Spike Camps' depending on game movement and weather conditions. All camps are equipped with radios and radio telephones in case of emergency......these camps are checked regularly by their fly-in service during the course of each hunt however, we cannot control the weather and delays in/out of camp are possible. Temperatures vary during the Fall hunting season ---- while hunting moose/caribou midday temperatures may exceed 40 degrees and fall well below freezing at night. Come prepared!! Rain gear and rubber boots are a MUST! The island moose population exceeds 120,000 animals, woodland caribou approximately 90,000 and bear are abundant on the island as well. Each Fall clients harvest many moose exceeding 40" and some over 50". This Outfitters client success rate over the last 17 years for both moose and woodland caribou has been 92%. Healthy and well managed herds of both Woodland and Barren Ground caribou live in the Province. Most caribou hunts utilize fly-in service to reach remote campsites where the great herds are each Fall. Hunters are allowed 1 caribou per license. Bear harvest success has run 75%. Hunters have harvested up to 675 lb bears and many species have exceeded 1/4 ton. This Outfitters bear hunting takes place on the boundary of Grose Morne National Park in North Central Newfoundland. Our area has a large number of bear and some of the biggest bear in Newfoundland. We provide 3 baits for each hunter and in the past it has been common to see 2-5 bears per day. We offer combo hunts for moose and caribou......bear can also be added (see below).
